This is my buckler, which I will be wearing in the SCA Wars, to protect from flying arrows and axes. Between that and Somerled, I'll be the most well-protected archer on the field, hopefully. It's not finished yet, it needs a rubber edging, to protect it from breaking, straps to attach to my arm... and about three more coats of varnish. But this is my device, and I like it. In all, the buckler is about 8 inches tall by a foot wide, and about 3/4 of an inch thick.

It's not like the gryphon is actually set up in a specific heraldic stance, I just copied it from the tattoo on my arm, and Jean and I found a picture in his heraldic dictionary that matched the stance more or less. So if I'm right, and it's regardant, it's not perfect. It's just close.

Yeah, I have a griffin tattoo. I got it 6 years ago, when I was in Katimavik, in Quebec. It's on my right forearm, and no, I don't have any pictures, but someday I might take one.

neat! I keep kicking around the idea of a tattoo or few, but I don't want to get one while I'm fat... but I can't seem to get the pounds off. *sigh*
